New Bedford – Bruce T. Dreher , age 61, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, unexpectedly at St. Lukes Hospital. Survivors include his wife Patricia H. (Lafferty) Dreher of New Bedford. Children Kelly Indio and her husband Jack of Acushnet, Kari Crompton and her husband Craig of New Bedford, Kurt Dreher and his wife Michele of Dartmouth, and Kara Dreher. Brother of Doris Fernandes and her husband Gus of New Bedford, and Weston Dreher and his wife Beverly of Orleans, Ma. Son in law of Marie Lafferty of New Bedford. Grandchildren Courtney, Cailyn, and C.J. Crompton, Mikayla, Kurtis, Molly, and Connor Dreher, Quinn and Rylie Indio, and Aiden Roderick. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, sister and brother in laws and his extended family the children and co-workers at St. James St. John School.

Mr. Dreher was born in New Bedford, Ma. He was the son of the late Eda (Roberts) and Weston Dreher. Mr. Dreher worked for many years at Morse Twist Drill til its closing and worked for the Bristol County House of Corrections until his retirement, the last 5 years, he was employed by St. James St. John School. Mr Dreher Coached his son through South End Youth Baseball, Greater New Bedford Pony League and New Bedford Teener League, he also enjoyed Golfing and spending time with his grandchildren attending all their sporting events.Bruce looked forward to his Sunday ritual which was cooking dinner for his children and grandchildren.


Mr. Dreher’s Funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Thursday at 8:45 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited
