Rosa (Marcal) Lopes

New Bedford MA.-Rosa (Marcal) Lopes died Saturday April 25, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital. Mrs. Lopes was the wife of the late Amantino M. Lopes. She was the mother of Maria deLurdes wife of Jose Anastacio of New Bedford, Amantino J. husband of Dalia Lopes of Stoughton, and the late Carlos A. widower of Conceicao Lopes. Mrs. Lopes was the sister of Amelia Marcal of Portugal; she is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces, and nephews.

Mrs. Lopes was born in Gafanha da Nazare, Portugal. She was a daughter of the late Adelino and Maria (Serafim) Marcal. Mrs. Lopes lived in this area since 1969. She was formerly employed as a stitcher for Knapp Shoes.

Mrs. Lopes’ Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Gafanha da Nazare Cemetery in Portugal. Visiting hours will be Monday 6-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
