Francisco Santos "O.T." Almeida

New Bedford- Francisco, AKA “O.T.” Almeida, aged 88 years, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. He was the husband of the late Louise (Fortes) Almeida.
Survivors include his children Jeffrey Frank Almeida of Delaware, Jane Eloise Almeida of New Bedford, James Frederick Almeida of Conn. and Joseph Paul Almeida of Fairhaven, 4 grandchildren: Chelsea Fay Almeida, Grace Louise Almeida, Caleb Joseph Almeida and Ava Marie Almeida and 1 great granddaughter: Sophia Madyson Marcal.He was the brother of Herculano Dias of Maryland, Jayme Dias of New Bedford, Eva Fernandes and Eugenia Monteiro both of CT., and the late Albert Dias, Armando Dias and Clara Ramos.

Mr. Almeida was a son of the late Maria (Vieira) Dias and Jose Santos. He was raised by his uncle Antonio Almeida and his wife Rosa Isabel Almeida.
He worked as an Auxillary Engineer at Com Electric until his retirement. He was also a Merchant Marine.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, Crapo Unit and the Jewish Convalescent Home

Mr. Almeida’s Funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Thursday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Assumption Church at 9 A.M. Visiting Hours are Wednesday from 5 - 8 P.M. Burial will take place at St. Johns Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited.
