Manuel Victor Pontagarca

New Bedford-Manuel Victor Pontagarca age 69 years died at St. Luke’s Hospital Friday April 3rd after a long Couragious battle with Cancer. He was the loving husband of Maria Amelia (Costa) Pontagarca of Tiverton R.I., Survivors include his children Antonio , and Manuel Pontagarca both of Terceira, Portugal, Maria Connie Daluz of Bristol, R.I., Maria Pontes of Westport, Ma, Carlos and Lourdes Pontagarca of New Bedford, Francisco Pontagarca of Tiverton, R.I., Amelia Pontagarca, Victoria Sousa, Lucy, Christina and Moses Pontagarca all of New Bedford, Sisters Lourdes Medeiros and Rosa Sousa of Terceira, Portugal. Grandchildren Chris, Ricky, Justin , Derek, John Jr., Laurie Marie, Little Lucy, Dosia, Jonathan, Tyrell, John, Nilton, Anthony, Nidene, Kayla, Kameron, Neida, Rose, Collin, Erek, Joshua, Ashley, Ciara Marie,Brittany, Morgan Rose, Prescilla, Kimberly, Cerena and 1 great granddaughter Angel Marie.

Mr. Pontagarca was the son of the late Maria doRosario (Sousa) and Francisco Pontagarca. He was born in Aqua de Pau São Miguel Açores and has lived in this area since 1973; Mr. Pontagraca worked as a machine operator at Berkshire Hathaway until his retirement.

Mr. Pontagarca’s Funeral will be Tuesday at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery New Bedford MA. Visiting hours are Monday from 5-8 P.M.
