Mary S. Demello

New Bedford - Mary S. (Sylvia) DeMello, age 96 years, died Friday, March 20, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. DeMello, of New Bedford. Mrs. DeMello was the beloved mother of M.Teresa Costa of Westport and the late Paul J. DeMello, loved daughter-in-law Maria DeMello of Fairhaven. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren as well as 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. DeMello was the sister of the late George, Victor, John, Ernest and Irene Sylvia.

Mrs. DeMello was a daughter of the late Frank S. and Mary (Joseph) Sylvia. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. She was employed as a telephone salesperson for Sears.

Mrs. DeMello’s Funeral will be Monday at 8 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St John the Baptist Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
