Joao Parreira

Boston-Joao Parreira age 60 years died March 17th, after long and courageous battle with cancer at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Fatima (Silveira) Parreira. Survived by his daughters Dalia Gaudencio, Elizabeth Caneira, Nilia Parreira all of New Bedford. Joao was the brother of Dalia Verissimo of New Bedford. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, and 2 Son-in-laws.

Mr. Parreira was the son of the late Emilia Parreira. Born in Terceira, Açores and has lived here since 1974. Joao was a Fisherman he worked on the Atlantic Star until his retirement. He enjoyed his leisure time at the Campino with friends.

Mr. Parreira’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M.
