Joaquim Jose Darosa

New Bedford-Joaquim Jose DaRosa age 91 died Wednesday February 4th at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Maria (Cabral) DaRosa. He was the father of Maria Clara Fonseca, Maria Fatima Machado and her husband Eduardo and Manuel F. DaRosa all of New Bedford. He was the father of the late Manuel Jose and Joaquim Francisco DaRosa. He was the loving Grandfather of Luis Fonseca, David Fonseca, John and his wife Julie Fonseca, Cindy Machado and Scott Machado. Joaquim was the brother of Luisa Sequeira of New Bedford and the late Maria Thomas, Ana Costa, Manuel DaRosa, Maria Azevedo, Francisca DoBem and Jose DaRosa. He is also survived by several Nieces, Nephews and Godchildren.

Mr. DaRosa’s was the son of the late Manuel Francisco and Maria Clara (Silveira) DaRosa. He was born in São Jorge, Portugal and has lived here since 1967. He was a machine operator in local textile mills until his retirement.

Mr. DaRosa’s Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Monday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10: 30A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4-7 P.M.
