Maria A. (Craveiro) Martins

New Bedford - Maria A. (Craveiro) Martins aged 90 years, died December 17, 2008 at Hallmark Nursing & Rehab Center, after a brief illness. She was the wife the late Virginio Martins. Mrs. Martins was the mother of Rufina Raposo of St. Michael Azores, Jose Martins, Manuel Martins, Lurdes Medeiros, Joao Martins, Armando Martins, Virginio Martins, David Martins, Lucia Parreira and Ana De Matos of New Bedford. She was the sister of Maria do Carmo Botelho of Bristol R.I. and the late Maria Lurdes Sebastiao. She is also survived by 43 grandchildren 56 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martins was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria (Rufina) Craveiro. She was born in Àgua de Pau, Sâo Miguel, Açores, Portugal and lived in this area since 1970.

Mrs. Martins’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday at 8A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial is at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
