Jose Francisco Romao Serra

New Bedford - Jose Francisco Romao Serra aged 81 years, died December 4, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Floriana J. Serra of New Bedford. Mr. Serra was the father of Suzel wife of Virginio Gallego of New Bedford, Joao Gabriel Serra husband of Paula of Portugal, and Fernando Jose Serra husband of Fernanda of New Bedford. He is also survived by 3 Grandaughters Ines, Mariana, and Gabriela and 2 Grandsons Justin and Diego, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Serra was the son of the late Maria (Encarnacao) and Jose Pereira Serra. He was born in Olhao Portugal and lived in the New Bedford area for 48 years. Mr. Serra was a Fisherman on several Fishing Vessels, he enjoyed walking and visiting with his friends at Café Campino.

Mr. Serra’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial is at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
