Maria B. (Dias) Maciel

New Bedford – Maria B. (Dias) Maciel , age 79, died on Monday, November 3, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Leonardo Dias Maciel. Mrs. Maciel was the mother of Jose Alberto AKA "P.J." husband of Violet Maciel and Luis H.husband of Eva Maciel all of New Bedford. She was the sister of Manuel Paiva of Brockton, Ma. and Armando Paiva of Canada. Mrs. Maciel was the grandmother of Melissa, Jessica and Ryan Maciel, great grandmother of Dale Scott and Dean Scott Lima and godmother of Maria Adeleide Williams. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Maciel was the sister of the late Lidio Paiva.

Mrs. Maciel was a daughter of the late Alberto Dias and Adeleide (Dias) Paiva. She was born in Terceira, Azores and lived in this area since 1961. Mrs. Maciel worked as a packer at Davidson’s Meats.

In accordance with her wishes she was cremated. Graveside services will take place at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers make a donation to a charity of your choice.
