Brockton-Charles Medeiros age 83 years of Clara St. died October 16th after a brief illness. He and his wife Edith (Branco) Medeiros were marries for 62 Years.
Born in New Bedford he was the son of the late Manuel B. and Mary B. (Medeiros) Medeiros.
Mr. Medeiros served in the United States Army as a Corporal during World War II.
He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and had worked 43 years for Goodyear Tire & Rubber until his retirement in 1986. During his years at Goodyear he had served as president of Local #290 of the United Rubber Workers Union. Charles was also a licensed electrician who worked for Dave Souza Electric in his younger days.
Mr. Medeiros was a long time member of the Y.M.C.A. in New Bedford where he enjoyed many games of racquetball and made many friends. Over the years he was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends alike- if you needed him- he was there.
Charles and Edith enjoyed many adventures as members of the Goodyear Seniors Club. This man was a devoted husband, great dad and the best friend you could ever hope for. He had a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Survivors include his wife; son Steven C. and his wife Janice Medeiros of East Freetown; a sister Gloria Roderiques and her husband Manuel of New Bedford; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Medeiros of North Dartmouth and Lillian Medeiros of Bourne, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was the brother of the late Jessie, John, Joseph and Manuel Medeiros. Mr. Medeiros lost his beloved grandson Scott C. Medeiros in 2006.
Mr. Medeiros’ Services will be Monday at 11A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St, with burial to follow at Pine Grave Cemetery.
