Jose Martins Santos

New Bedford –Jose Martins Santos, age 81, died Friday, October 3, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital unexpectedly. He was the husband of the late Claudine A. (Pena) Santos who passed last March the 10th. Mr. Santos was the father of Paula Barros wife of Charles Barros Sr. of Wareham He was the Loved grandfather of Charles Barros Jr. and Eric Barros. He was brother of Ernest Santos of Westport and the late John, Max, Joaquim “Jack”, and Renato Santos as well as the great- grandfather of 7. He also had several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Santos was a son of the late Max F. Santos and Eugenia M. (Martins) Santos. He was born in New Bedford, and lived in this area all of his life. Mr. Santos was employed as a forklift operator at Chamberlain Mfg., where he worked for over 37 years. Mr. Santos was a Merchant Marine, and a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was the Vice-President of the Mariner Marine Club.

Mr. Santos’ Mass of Christian Burial with ashes present will be Friday October 10th at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 A.M. Inichment of his ashes will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at Church.
