Dartmouth-Jose Medeiros Alcaidinho aged 83 years died Tuesday September 9th, at home, after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Maria C. (Cabral) Alcaidinho of Dartmouth. He was the father of Mary wife of James Mauricio of Dartmouth, Alda Rosario formerly Freitas, wife of Edmund Rosario of New Bedford, Joseph Luis husband of Elaine Alcaidinho of Orlando,FL., Natalie wife of David C. Arruda of Fairhaven, Leonore "Lee” wife of Robert Crews of Colorado, and John Richard husband of Deborah Alcaidinho. He was the brother of Luisa Pinho of New Bedford and the late Ermelinda Pereira. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Alcaidinho was the son of the late Aldina (Chaves) and Jose Medeiros Alcaidinho. He was born in St. Michael, Azores and lived in this area since 1960. He was employed as a laborer at Warren Brothers Construction. He was also a painter. He was a founding member of the Goulart Square Improvement Association and also the Stackhouse Club.
Mr. Alcaidinho Funeral will be Friday at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St., at 7:45 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church South Dartmouth, MA. at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting will be Thursday evening from 5 –8 P.M. Relative and friends are invited.
