NEW BEDFORD-Pearl (Souza) Medeiros, aged 82 years of New Bedford passed away September 3, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was born in Connecticut, but lived most of her life in New Bedford. She was the beloved widow of Joseph Medeiros, and the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (De Mello) Souza.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda J. Medeiros of New Bedford, who lovingly cared for her in her later years; her loving son, David A. Medeiros and his wife Suzette of Acushnet; four grandchildren, Sheri Lopes, Shelly Bolarinho, Jennifer Houde and David Frias; four great-grandchildren Cassie Bolarinho, Amanda Lopes, Logan Bolarinho and Hunter Bolarinho; her dear sister Hilda Carvalho, several nieces and nephews, two sister-in-laws, and family friend Dennis Campion.
Pearl was predeceased by her brothers Walter Souza, Sonny Souza, Ernest Souza, and her late sisters Lorraine Lunny and Olga Souza.
She was a longtime employee of Cornell Dubilier Electric Corp until her retirement. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, reading, watching movies and playing bingo.
As per her wishes a private ceremony was held September 5, 2008 and she was laid to rest beside her much-loved husband Joseph at St. John Cemetery.
