Edward S. Carreira

New Bedford– Edward S. Carreira, age 85 yrs., passed away at Alden Court Nursing Home after a long illness on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. He was the husband of the late Olivia (Tavares) Carreira. Survivors include a Daughter Ellen Ferro and her husband Thomas of Acushnet, a grandson Derek Ferro and his wife Monique of Plymouth, 3 great grandchildren Tom, Hannah and Reaghan Ferro of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Olivia Medeiros and Hilda Barcellos.

Mr. Carreira was the son of the late Maria (Pereira) and Manuel S. Carreira. He was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all his life. He was employed as a Supervisor for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.

Mr. Carreira’s Funeral will be Friday at 9:00 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and Friends are invited. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery.
