Maria Gilda (Tiburcio) Medeiros

New Bedford – Maria Gilda (Tiburcio) Medeiros, aged 87 years, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Sacred Heart Home. She was the wife of the late Manuel Martins Medeiros and the mother of John and Michael Medeiros both of Dartmouth. Mrs. Medeiros was the sister of Elidia, wife of Armenio Silva, Dina Medeiros and Lupercia Medeiros all of New Bedford, Delfina Amaral of Dartmouth, Ester Tiburcio of St. Michael, Azores and the late Joao and Egidio Tiburcio. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Medeiros was a daughter of the late Maria (da Trindade) and Joao Tiburcio. She was born in Ribeira Quente, São Miguel, Açores and lived in Rosario, Lagoa until she moved to this area in 1968. Mrs. Medeiros was employed as a floor worker at various local dress factories.

Mrs. Medeiros’ Funeral will be Saturday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., at 8 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday Evening from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
