John F. Samagaio

Dartmouth–John F. Samagaio, aged 89 years passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Sunrise Assisted Living after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Etelvina J. (Avila) Samagaio. He was the father of Lucinda “Cindy” wife of Ronald Oliveira of Dartmouth. He was the brother of Domingos Samagaio, Manuel Samagaio, Humberto Samagaio all of New Bedford, Augusto Samagaio of Dartmouth, Ralph Samagaio of CA., Germano Samagaio of WA. He is also survived by his 3 Granchildren; Chistopher Oliveira and his wife Jodi of Stuart, FL. Keith Oliveira and his wife Melissa and Randy Oliveira and his companion Betty Morais all of Port St. Lucie, FL. 2 Great-grandchildren Courtney Oliveira and Corynne Oliveira of Stuart, FL. and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Samagaio was the son of the late Maria (Pimentel) and Domingos Samagaio. He was born in Gloucester, MA. and lived in this area since 1963. Mr. Samagaio was employed as Commercial Fisherman. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Mr. Samagaio’s Funeral will be Saturday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., at 9:30 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday Evening from 5 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
