Maria (Evangelo) Machado

New Bedford – Maria DeJesus (Evangelo) Machado , aged 70 yrs., passed away after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer at home with her family on Sunday, July 13, 2008. She was the wife of Aldemiro S. Machado of New Bedford. Mother of Rui Machado and his wife Graca of New Bedford, Nancy Quintin and her husband Thomas Jr. of New Bedford, and Nelson Machado and his wife Connie of S. Dartmouth. Grandmother of Kaylen and Noah Quintin, Lisa and Andre Machado. Sister of Ana G. Garcia of Pico Azores, and Manuel Evangelo and his wife Norbeta of New Bedford.

Mrs. Machado was born in Sao Caetano, Pico Azores, and lived in this area since 1968. She was the daughter of the late Silvina Guelhermina (Garcia) and Jacinto Pereira Machado. Mrs. Machado was employed as a Stitcher at several local mills and also worked at St. Lukes Hospital in the laundry Department.

Mr. Machado’s Funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 1`0:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday Evening from to 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
