Helena S. Arruda

New Bedford- Helena Sousa (Faria) Arruda age 93 died Monday May 26, 2008, at St Lukes Hospital after a brief Illness. She was the wife of the late John S. Arruda. Mother of John Arruda Jr. of New Bedford, Raymond Arruda of New Bedford, Geraldine Carvalho and her husband Angelo of New Bedford, and Judith Arruda of New Bedford. Grandmother of Bethany, Carolyn, Amanda, Anne, Kenneth, Angelo Jr, and Kevin. Great Grandmother of Ashley, Sage, Haylie, Hannah, Kacie, Madison, Marisa, Owen, Kendal, Alijah, and Sadie. Sister of Marion Silvia of Fall River. Mrs. Arruda was also the grandmother of the late Melinda Arruda, and sister of the late Manuel, Antone, and Joseph Sousa Faria and Mary Mello. She is also survived by Several Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Arruda was the daughter of the late Mary (Almeida) Arruda Faria and Manuel Sousa Faria. She was born in Fall River, MA and lived in the New Bedford area most her life.

Mrs. Arruda’s Funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Thursday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M.
