Rose Sylvia

New Bedford - Rose Sylvia, age 97, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Oaks. She was the widow of Edward Sylvia. Mrs. Sylvia was the mother of Phyllis Daviski of Dartmouth, Arlene Wayner-Silva of Fairhaven, Dennis Sylvia of Bristol, RI., June Cournoyer of New Bedford and the late Edward Sylvia Jr.and Frank Sylvia. She was the sister of Isabelle Sylvia and the late Joseph Oliver, Antone Oliver, Mary Arruda, Lena Arruda, Flora Peppin, Deolinda Viveiros and Agnes Batacao. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Sylvia was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa (Leal) Oliver. She was born in Dartmouth and lived in this area all her life. She was a drill polisher of samples for Morse Twist Drill before her retirement.
