Antonio S. Couto

New Bedford- Antonio S. Couto age 83 died Thursday April 10, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief Illness. He was the husband Maria doCarmo Moniz (Pacheco) Couto of New Bedford. Father of Maria Eduarda Negalha wife of Adelino of Acushnet, Edla M. Couto-Arruda wife of Norberto of Wilton CT. Evelina Da Costa wife of Laurenio of New Bedford, Maria Aparecida Medeiros wife of Jose of Rohneit Park, CA. and Antonio Fernando Souza husband of Cidalia of Nordeste, São Miguel, Açores. He was the brother of Manuel Sousa of New Bedford, Artur Sousa of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores and Maria doCarmo Ribeiro of Nordeste, São Miguel Açores. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Couto was the son of the late Manuel and Ludovina (Couto) de Sousa. He was born in Santo António, Nordeste, São Miguel, Açores. He would travel back and forth from New Bedford to Portugal over the years. He enjoyed playing cards at Ashley Park.

Mr. Couto’s Funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Monday, at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4-7 P.M.
