Mary C. “Connie” (Roderiques) Sylvia

New Bedford- Mary C. “Connie” (Roderiques) Sylvia, 79, of Fairhaven passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital on Saturday March 29, 2008. She was the wife of her loving husband Henry J. Sylvia, of Fairhaven, for 57 years. She was born in New Bedford and resided in Fairhaven for the past 55 years. She was a daughter of the late Joao Roderiques and Herminia (Ferreira) Roderiques.

She formerly worked as a tester at Aerovox Corporation in New Bedford and was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son Ronald J. Sylvia and wife Brenda of Fairhaven; 2 granddaughters, Karen Lea Sylvia and Bethanie Marie Sylvia both of Fairhaven; a sister Dorothy Desrochers and husband Roger of South Dartmouth; a sister Mary Duarte and husband Dionell of New Bedford; a twin brother John Roderiques and wife Janice of New Bedford; a late brother Manuel Roderiques; a nephew Michael Duarte and wife Lorraine of New Bedford; god-daughter Melissa Duarte and a niece Christina Duarte of New Bedford; several more nieces and nephews; and good friends Albertina Joseph of Fairhaven and Rosaline Cabral of South Dartmouth.

Mrs. Sylvia's funeral will be Tuesday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Fairhaven, MA. at 10 A.M. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-7 P.M. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited.
