Alfred Alves Jr.

New Bedford-Alfred Alves Jr. age 79 died Thursday March 20th at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Rita (Cabral) Alves of New Bedford. He was the loved father of David Alves and his wife Marsha of South Dartmouth, Richard Pereira and his wife Robin of Acushnet and Lisa McGregor and her husband James of New Bedford. He was the grandfather of Keri and Kelsey Pereira, Craig and Ethan McGregor. Mr. Alves was the brother of the late Deolinda Rajado. He is also survived by a Godchild Lisete Almeida and 3 Nieces.

Mr. Alves was the son of the late Alfred and Maria (Paixao) Alves. He was born in New Bedford, moved to Portugal, and later returned in 1960. He retired from G.B. Knowles where he was a landscaper. He was a former member of the Faial Club.

In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 4-7 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St.
