Dorothy Edith Barrows

New Bedford – Dorothy Edith Barrows, age 85 years, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at home after an extended illness. She was the Mother of Frank P. Barrows III and wife Sharon of Red Bank New Jersey, Marlene Centeio and her husband John of New Bedford, and sister of Etta Oliveira of New Bedford. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, with one more on the way. She was the mother of the late Russell W. Barrows.

Mrs. Barrows was the daughter of the late Palmira Oliver and Ernesto S. Oliveira, she was born in New Bedford and lived here all her life. Mrs. Barrows was a stitcher for International Ladies Garment Workers Union for over 40 years.

She loved sewing for her family, knitting, crocheting, and spending whatever time she could at the casino.

Her visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-7 P.M.

In accordance with her wishes the burial will be private for the convenience of the family.
