Joao A. Rocha

New Bedford-Joao A. Rocha age 61 years died Monday March 10th at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Helena (Fonseca) Rocha of New Bedford. He was the father of Richard Rocha and his wife Sandy and Kelly Arruda and her husband Antonio both of New Bedford. He was the loved grandfather of Matthew Rocha, Kelsey Arruda and Noah Arruda. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Rocha was the son of Maria Conceicao (Faria) Da Rocha of Fairhaven, and the late Jose Da Rocha. He was born in Terceira, Azores. He has lived here since 1970. He was a machine operator at Chamberlain Manufacturing. He was on the Board of Directors of the Amigos da Terceira, and former member of the Senhor de Pedra Club.

Mr. Rocha’s funeral will be Friday at 8:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church New Bedford at 10 A.M. burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hour will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M.
