Hilda (Mello) Carvalho

New Bedford- Hilda M. Carvalho died Friday February 22, 2008 at New Bedford Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John Gilbert “Lefty” Carvalho. Mother of Beverly A. Edmundson of New Bedford and Brenda J. Cabral of New Bedford, Sister of Angelina Camara of New Bedford, Grandmother of Bruce and Jami-Lee Edmundson and great grandson Tyler of Dartmouth, William “Bill” and Lisha Cabral and great grandchildren Emma and Cody of E. Freetown, David and Kelly Cabral and great grandchildren Cade, Nolan, Anden, and Dane of Turner, Maine, great grandmother of Megan and Amanda Edmundson, also survived by 3 dear friends Marcia Albert, Maureen Murray , Jane Booth Godchildren and several nieces and nephews who never missed an opportunity to show her what she ment to them. She was the mother of the late John Carvalho, sister of the late John, Joseph, Leo, and Antone Mello, Mary Correia and Florence Mello, grandmother of the late Brian C. Edmundson and great grandmother of the late Zachary Edmundson.

Mrs Carvalho was the daughter of the late Angelina (Silva) and John Mello. She was born in New Bedford, and lived in this area most her life living 10 yrs in Fitchburg, MA. She was a stitcher at various Mills.

A Funeral Mass with her ashes present will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:00A.M. with visiting hours 1 hour prior to the Mass at the Perry Funeral Home at 8:30 A.M. Burial of ashes will follow at St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Make a wish foundation 1 Bulfinch Place 2nd Floor Boston, Ma 02114 or to a Charity of your choice.
