Amauri Meyer

New Bedford-Amauri Meyer age 61 died Sunday at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Maria (Gafanhoto) Meyer of New Bedford. He was the father of Sheila Mello wife of Paul and Alexander Meyer husband of Elisa both of New Bedford. He was the grandfather of Kevin Mello, Lucas Meyer and Elizabeth Meyer. He was the brother-in-law of Jose Gafanhoto, Antonio Furtado and his wife Maria and his sister-in-law Genoveveva Gafanhoto all of New Bedford. He has 2 sisters and a brother in Brazil. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Meyer was the son of the late Carme (Magalhaes) and Durval D. Estrada Meyer. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has lived here since 1972. He was a machine operator at AFC Cable Company until his retirement.

Mr. Meyer’s Funeral will be on Wednesday at 8A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. A Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M.
