New Bedford –Maria A.(Alvernaz)Goulart, aged 100 years, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at home after a brief illness . She was the wife of the late of Joseph Goulart. She was the mother of Manuel Goulart and his wife Dolores of Acushnet, Maria Vargas of New Bedford, and Deolinda G. Pires of Acushnet. Grandmother of Manuel Vargas, Alda Roderiques, Lucia Williams, Mario Vargas, Frank Vargas, Joe Pires, Helia Medeiros, Helio Pires, Michael Pires, Karen Canastra, Michael Goulart, Jeffrey Goulart, and Sherri Goulart, MRs. Goulart is also survived by 23 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Goulart was the daughter of the late Manuel Homen Alvernaz and Deolinda (Melo) Alvernaz. She worked as a Stitcher for Cliftex Corporation.
Mrs. Goulart’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Saturday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5-9 P.M. on Friday. Relatives and friends are invited. The family would like to thank the Staff at Personal Touch Home Care for their Kindness and Excellent Care, also a special thank you for Avo Meme’s home health aide Lori Aguiar for her years of dedication and caring.
