Hilda M. (Monteiro) Pires

New Bedford- Hilda M. (Monteiro) also known as "Ilda de Malota” and “Tia” Pires age 80 years died Friday October 26, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital unexpectedly. She was the wife of John J. Pires of New Bedford. She was the mother of John Monteiro, David Pires both of New Bedford, and Nancy Pires of Riverside, RI., and the late Margaret Pires. She was the grandmother of John and Sara Monteiro; she was the sister of Domingos Monteiro of Cape Verde Island and Tereza Monteiro Ramos of Central Falls RI. Felizimina Monteiro of Dorchester MA, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pires was the daughter of the late Felipe J. and Maria (Livramento) Monteiro. She was born in Fogo, Cape Verde Islands, and has lived in this area since 1961.

Mrs. Pires’s Funeral is From the Perry Funeral Home Tuesday at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be Monday from 5-9 P.M.
