Serafina (Oliveira) De Melo

New Bedford- Serafina de Melo died Monday October 22, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jose de Melo. She was the mother of Albert of S. Dartmouth, Manuel of Acushnet, and Liberio de Melo of N. Dartmouth, Maria Lodia Vertentes , Fernanda Oliveira, Delia Lake all of New Bedford, and Lucia Higgins of Swansea, MA. She is also survived by 15 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.

Mrs. de Melo was the daughter of the late Serafim Rebello Oliveira and Maria de Piadade (Furtado). She was born in Sao Miguel Azores, and has lived here for 40 years.

Mrs. de Melo’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-8 P.M.
