Hilda V. (Pires) Souza

Hilda V. Souza of Westport, age 83 years, born Hilda V. Pires in New Bedford on Dec. 10, 1923, to Rose and Joseph V. Pires, began her walk on the stairway to Heaven, to the house of the Lord, where she joins her husband Florian (Chippy) P. Souza, in Eternal Life. Hilda was a kind and compassionate nurse caring for patients at St. Luke’s Hospital for over 25 years before retiring. Hilda cherished time spent with her loving family, camping, family vacations and holidays. She enjoyed attending Sunday Services at New Hope Christian Church. Hilda was a kind, generous and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves here on Earth her son, Mark S. Souza, daughter, Christine T. Teixeira and her husband Christiano Teixeira Jr., brother, Douglas V. Pires, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, cousins, friends and her beloved pet Sebastion. She will be greatly missed by her family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
In accordance with her wishes she was cremated.
