Anita M. Burke

New Bedford-Anita F. (Nunnie) Burke age 58 years died September 4, 2007 unexpectedly. She was the widow of the Vanguary Burke Jr. Mother of Carleen Johnson and grandmother of Elijah and Jerial Johnson of New York She was the sister of the late Armando (Skipper) Fernandes Jr. and Daniel Santos. She was the aunt of Craig Rozario, Kyle Viera, and Christopher Fernandes. The great aunt of Craig Rosario Jr. She is also survived by her son in law Joseph Mark Godchild Nicholas Almeida cousins Joseph Santos and Paula Rayand an abundance of friends.

Mrs. Burke was the daughter of the late Armando Fernandes and Mary Fernandes. She was born in New Bedford and lived in New York most of her early life. She attended New Bedford High School, Eliza Business Institute in New York, Bristol Community College and Fisher College. She worked as a Tenant Coordinater at New Bedford Housing Authority and was on the board of directors of P.A.C.E., As a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church she was a Eucharist Minister. She was a member of the St Martin De Porress Guild, Cape Verdean Womens Club, and the Cape Verdean Veterans Auxillary .

Mrs. Burke’s Church Service will be Saturday September 8, 2007 at Our Lady of Assumption Church at 9:00 A.M. Visiting hours have been omitted. Arrangements are by Perry Funeral Home.
