Laura Delores Murphy

New Bedford – Laura Delores Murphy aged 77 years died Monday July 2, after a long illness at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of Francis R. Murphy II. She was the mother of James J. Alexander of Lecanto, FL, Dennis J. Alexander of Gulfport, MS., and Laurie Alexander of New Bedford, Francis R. Murphy III of Leesburg, VA., Robert Murphy of Dartmouth MA., and Kathleen Lavoie of Madeira Beach, FL. Mrs. Murphy was the sister of Rosalina Benoit of New Bedford, and the late Frank, and James Machado, and Mary Avila. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of the late Francisco and Palmeda (Macedo) Machado. She was born in Dartmouth, and lived in this area all of her life. She worked for the Acushnet Company in the quality control department.

In accordance with her wishes she was cremated.

A Mass of Christian Burial with her ashes present will be celebrated on Thursday July 12, at 7 P.M. at the Holy Name of Sacred Heart Parish 121 Mt. Pleasant St.
