New Bedford –Aninha Theresa (Pina) Sylvia Ribeiro, aged 62 years, died Friday, May 25, 2007 at New Bedford Health Care Center after a long illness. She was the wife of James C. Ribeiro of New Bedford also known as the “Hat Man”. She is survived by 5 sons William, Frank W. and John Sylvia all of New Bedford, Stephen Ribeiro of Jacksonville, Florida and Joseph C. Ribeiro of New Bedford. 2 daughters Gina Johnson of New Bedford and April Sylvia of Columbus Georgia, a stepdaughter Adeline Ribeiro and stepson James C. Ribeiro Jr. 1 brother John Pina Jr of Brockton, 1 sister Emily Smith of Yarmouth, Ma. 1 stepbrother Robert Lopes of Brockton and 2 stepsisters Barbara Rodrigues and Florence Tavares, a special granddaughter Christina Sylvia, 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She also left behind many friends.
Mrs. Sylvia Ribeiro was born in Midland, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Josephine (Fernandes) and John Pina. She lived in this area for 45 Yrs. She was employed as a Home Health Aide for Anodyne. She loved dancing and helping people
. Mrs. Sylvia Rebeiro funeral will be 11 A.M. Thursday at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 12 P.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited visiting hours will be Wednesday from 6-9 P.M.
