Nancy June Ponte

New Bedford – Nancy June (Korona) Ponte, of New Bedford, age 66, died Wednesday May 9, 2007 at St Lukes Hospital. She was the wife of Lionel E. Ponte, the mother of Joanne Louise Hollis of St Louis, Cheryl Samiagio of Haverville Ma, and David S. Ponte of New Bedford, Grandmother of Margo and Abbey Hollis. She was the sister of Phyllis Mercer of Dartmouth. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Louise Nobrega and Edward Korona.

Mrs. Ponte was the daughter of the late Mary and Stanley Korona. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Ponte was a Teachers Aide for New Bedford Public Schools. She enjoyed her family, friends and camping.

Mrs Ponte’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Monday at 9 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church, at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be Saturday May 12, 2007 from 2 to 5 P.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
