BEATRICE MEDEIROS
NEW BEDFORD – Beatrice “Mem” (Fortier) Medeiros, 94, of North Dartmouth, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2007 at the Taber Street Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Manuel Medeiros.
Born in Saundersville, South Grafton MA, she was the daughter of the late Cleophus V. & Philomena (Mirando) Fortier. She had lived in New Bedford most of her life before moving to North Dartmouth 17 years ago.
Beatrice was employed for many years by Cornell-Dubilier and had retired from the Acushnet Company. She was member of the St. Hedwig’s Senior Club and was the “Sunshine Lady” for many years.
She enjoyed eating out and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter Joan E. Sylvia and her husband Jim, four grandsons Jim Sylvia of Cumming, GA, Steven Sylvia of New Bedford and Richard Sylvia and David Sylvia of Dartmouth, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
She was the sister of Doris Morency of Bloomfield, CT. and the late Armand V. Fortier.
According to her wishes she was cremated.
Mrs. Medeiros’ services will be Saturday May 12th . Relatives and friends are invited to meet at St. Martin’s Church for 8:45 A.M. Burial of cremains will follow at St. John Cemetery. Arrangements by the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St.
