Dartmouth-Antone Mello aged 79 years died Friday April 20th, at home. He was the devoted husband of Theresa (Sullivan) Mello of Dartmouth, to whom he was married to for 58 years. He was the loving father of Antoinette Pacheco of New Bedford, Dennis Mello of Fairhaven, Gilbert Mello of Dartmouth, Tony Mello of Fairhaven, Barbara Ormonde of Dartmouth, Diane Loveridge of New Bedford, Thomas Mello of Fairhaven, Jim Mello of Dartmouth, John Mello of Acushnet, Theresa Avila of Dartmouth, and the late Michael Mello. He was the brother of the late Manuel Mello and Alice Avila. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews.

Mr. Mello was the son of the late Manuel and Alexandrina (Vieira) Mello. He was born in New Bedford and lived in this area most of his life. He was a machine operator at Brittany Print & Dye until his retirement. He was a 2nd Class Fireman with the U.S. Navy. He was a World War II Veteran. Mr. Mello’s enjoyments were his family, trips to Atlantic City, and landscaping.

Mr. Mello’s Funeral was arranged by the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church South Dartmouth. Visiting hours were private. Burial was at St. John Cemetery.
