Mary C. (Corey) Russell

New Bedford - Mary C. (Corey) Russell, aged 99 years, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 after a long illness. She was the widow of Carl I. Russell and the mother of the late Norman P. Rapoza. Mrs. Russell is survived by her caregivers: Jennifer Dumas-Cornell and her husband Matthew of New Bedford and Christopher Teves and his wife Monica of Wareham, her grandchildren: Steven, Corey and Sheri Rapoza, Linda Affonce and Brandy DeMedeiros, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was the sister of Joseph Corey Jr., Virginia Owen, Anna Oliver, Elsie Medeiros, Manuel Corey, Evelyn Correia and the late Kenneth Rapoza. Mrs. Russell is also survived by several nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Mrs. Russell was a daughter of the late Maria (Correia) and Joseph Corey. She was born in Terceira, Azores and lived in the New Bedford area most of her life. She was a winder tender at Berkshire Hathaway Mills before her retirement.

Mrs. Russell’s funeral services will take place at 11 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2- 4 and & - 9 P.M. and Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will take place at Rural Cemetery.
