Alexandrina (Correia) Iria

New Bedford - Alexandrina (Correia) Iria, age 87, died Thursdays, April 19, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joaquim Iria. She was the mother of Eduarda Costa, Odete Claudino, Lucia Alcaidinho and Maria daConceicao Machado all of New Bedford, Antonio Iria of Lowell, Jose Iria, Alvaro Iria and Paulo Iria all of New Bedford, and the late Humberto Iria. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Iria was the daughter of the late Jose Alves and Maria Conceicao (Oliveira) Correia. She was born in St. Michael, Azores and lived in this area since 1978. Mrs. Iria was a member of the Sisters of the Rosary and the Holy Ghost Society both at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Mrs. Iria’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Saturday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 6 to 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
