Manuel Bento Correia

Dartmouth-Manuel Bento Correia, age 86, died Friday, April 13, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria da Conceicao “Sabina”(Pacheco) Correia of Dartmouth; He was the father of Francisco Xavier Correia of New Bedford, Nazare Alfaite of New Bedford, Jose P. Correia of Maryland, and Luis P. Correia of Milford, MA. Jorge P. Correia of Maryland, Alzira Araujo of Maine, Daniel P. Correia, and Ana M. Hubright both of New Bedford. He was the brother of Guilhermina Camara of Fairhaven, MA. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews.

Mr. Correia was the son of the late Manuel Bento and Catarina Branca (da Silva) Correia. He was born in Salga, Sao Miguel Azores. He has lived in this area since 1968. He was a Box packer with Daisy Cup Inc. Mr. Correia was a devoted husband and father. He loved poetry, and a glass of wine.

Mr. Correia’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5-8 P.M. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery.
