Geraldine R. “Jerri” Correia April 2, 1949 – April 2, 2007

Jerri died on Monday at St. Lukes Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving famiy.

Jerri was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Pauline and George Brumley, and lived in New Bedford for 22 years and in Rochester for the past 10 years. She leaves behind a loving husband of 34 years, James who she met in Colorado during his time in the U.S. Army. Her son Michael Correia, his wife Nitza and their son Matthew and a son on the way, of Davenport, Fla.; her daughter, Lenore June Wells, her husband Jason and theis sons Jesse and Nathan of McGaheysville, VA. She also leaves a loving companion, her dog Misty. Two sisters, Jenny and Wynona of Owensboro, KY, two brothers Ron Brumley of MO. and Rick Brumley of CA. She also had a loving family of in-laws, her mother-in-law Maria Correia, sisters-in-law Bernadette, Fatima, Lourdes and Connie and was preceeded in death by brother-in-law Jose. Jr and sister-in-law Theresa. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

She worked at Bradley’s in Hyannis before they closed, then she worked at Building 19 before becoming ill in 2003.

The family would also like to especially thank Dr, Matelski of the Oncology Center who had treated Jerri for years being her primary care doctor before going to oncology full time and then being there to the very end. The family would also like to thank everyone at the Oncology Center who helped care for Jerri, they came to be thought of as members of the family and they truly care about the people that they treat. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at CCU at St. Lukes Hospital for the wonderful treatment of Jerri and her family.

Her Funeral will be Thursday at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9:30 A.M. with a Liturgy of the Word to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. In accordance with her wishes cremation will follow. Burial of ashes will be private at the convenience of the family.
