Maria Joana (Remedios) Martins

Boston-Maria Joana Martins age 65 years died Friday March 9, 2007 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. She was the wife of Jose Manuel Martins of New Bedford. She was the mother of Manuel G. Martins, Maria D. Lapointe, both of New Bedford, and Ana M. Branco of Dartmouth. She was the loving grandmother of Ashley Branco, Courtney Martins, Nicole Branco, Mackenzie Martins, Felicity Lapointe, and Corbynn Lapointe. She was the sister of Lurdes Lopes, Lucilia Raposo both of Canada, Maria Do Carmo Silva of the Acores, and the late Maria Jose. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews

Mrs. Martins was the daughter of the late Jacinto and Maria E. (de Sousa) Remedios. She was born in Aqua do Pau, Sao Miguel Acores, she has lived in this area since 1978.
She was a floor worker at local factories.

Mrs. Martins Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home Monday March 12, 2007 at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4-7 P.M. She will be buried at St. John Cemetery.
