Joao P. Lima

New Bedford - Joao P. Lima, age 59 years, died Sunday, February 25, 2007 at St Lukes Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Maria I. (Ponte) Lima of New Bedford, they were married for 34 Years. He was the father of Paula M. Lima of New Bedford and brother of Alvaro M. Lima and his wife Beverly of New Bedford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lima was the son of the late Manuel and Maria F. (Ponte) Lima. He was born in Santa Cruz, DeLagoa, St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and has lived here since 1972. He was the proprietor of John Lima Landscaping and was previously employed at Columbia Electronics, Monte Pio Luso-American Club and the Stackhouse Holy Ghost Club.

Mr. Lima’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St, Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 8:00 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be Wednesday Evening from 5 - 8 P.M.
