Mario Tavares Farinhas

Nantucket Sound-Mario Tavares Farinhas died unexpectedly February 21, 2007 while he was fishing on the fishing vessel “Lady of Grace”. He was the husband of Maria C. (Farinhas) Farinhas. He was the father of Ana Farinhas of New Bedford, and Luisa Diaz of Fall River, MA. He was the Loving grandfather of Kaitlyn and Landon Diaz. He is survived by 4 brothers, and 3 sisters, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Farinhas was the son of Antonio A. and Arminda (Tavares) Farinhas. He was born in Murtosa, Portugal and has lived here for 27 years. He was a fisherman on the fishing vessel “Lady of Grace” when she went down.

Mr. Farinhas Funeral from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Tuesday at 9:30 A.M.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Monday 6-9 P.M. He will be buried will be at St. John Cemetery.
