Maria{Estrela} Melo

New Bedford-Maria Melo aged 88 years, died Sunday January 28,2007 at her daughters house surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Adelino Melo. She was the mother of Valdemira Costa, Joao Silva, Maria Eduarda Mota, Adelino Melo, and Filomena Tripp all of New Bedford, Jose Da Silva, and Jorge Melo both of Dartmouth, and Maria “Tina” I. Melo of Acushnet. She was the grandmother of 12, and the great-grandmother of 17. She is also survived by several nieces, and nephews.

She was the daughter of the late Joaquim and Palmira (Piques) Jacinto. She was born in Sao Miguel Azores, and moved to this area in 1968. She was a homemaker.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday January 30, 2006 at St John the Baptist Church at 10 A.M. Visiting hours are Monday from 6-9 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Burial will follow Mass, at St. John Cemetery.
