Carrie Alves

New Bedford - Carrie (Furtado) Alves, died Sunday, December 31st at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home. She was the widow of Manuel Alves. She was the mother of Randall Alves of Sacremento, CA., Barbara Santos of Dartmouth, MA., Robert Alves of Cornish, NH., and the late Ronald Alves. She was the sister of Isabel Costa of New Bedford, Olivia George of Holbrook, MA., and the late Mercedes Furtado, Leontina Rego, Josephine Fernandes, and Mary Farias. She was also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 16 Great-grandchildren and several nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Alves was born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Joao and Isabella (Soares) Furtado. She was a life long resident of this area. She was a stitcher with various mills until her retirement

Her Funeral Mass will be this Thursday at St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth at 11:30 A.M. Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to church from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements are by Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St.
