California - Michael W. Hughes, died Friday, November 3, 2006 in Long Beach , California, after a long illness. He is survived by his mother Priscilla Tavares and her husband Kenneth of New Bedford, his father Patrick Hughes and his wife Jackie of New Bedford, 3 brothers Patrick Hughes II and Joshua Brightman both of New Bedford and Jonathan Brightman of Atlanta, Georgia, 2 stepsisters Deana Tavares of Dartmouth and Jennifer Tavares of New Bedford. Mr. Hughes was the long time companion of Chuck Stewart of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, several aunts and uncles and many, many cousins.

Mr. Hughes was born in New Bedford and lived here for 21 yrs. He was employed as a Disc Jockey. His passions were his love for music, being a disc jockey, and playing his guitar.

Services are from the Perry Funeral Home Friday November 17, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. . Burial of his ashes will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours with his cremains present will be Thursday from 5 - 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Michael may be made to Hope House, 306 Osborne St., Fall River, MA. 02724
