Joao M. Fidalgo

New Bedford- Joao M. Fidalgo died Tuesday November 14, 2006 at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Rosa A. (Almeida) Fidalgo of New Bedford. Survivors include 1 daughter Maria Joao Oliveira and her husband Jose deOliveira of New Bedford, 1 son Antonio Pedro Fidalgo and his wife Margarida M. of New Bedford, 3 grandchildren Joao Jose deOliveira, Goncalo Jose deOliveira and Brianna M. Fidalgo. His sisters Alice Fidalgo of Portugal and Aida dos Santos of France. He is survived by a brother in law Luis Manuel Almeida and his wife Maria Manuela Almeida of Portugal. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Jose Maria daSilva, Pedro Fidalgo, Joaquim Fidalgo, and Julia Fidalgo.

Mr. Fidalgo was born in Cova, Figueira da Foz, Portugal and has lived in the New Bedford area since 1984. He was the son of the late Idalina (daSilva) and Joao Marques Fidalgo. He was a Commercial Fisherman and the last Vessel he worked on was the Galaxy.

His Funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home at Friday at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony Church at 9 A.M. Visiting Hours will be from 6-8 P.M. on Thursday.
