Jose M. Costa

New Bedford – Jose M. Costa, age 49, died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. He was the husband of Maria C. (Goncalves)Costa of New Bedford. Mr. Costa was the father of Susan Vieira, Michael Costa and Jessica Costa all of New Bedford. He was the grandfather of Dominic and Dimitri Vieira; the brother of Goretti of Taunton, Luisa and Lodia both of Canada, Luis , Lourdes, Ana and Ricardo all of Sao Miguel, Azores. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Costa was born in St. Michael, Azores, the son of Jose Lagoa Costa and Merces Jesus (Cacador) Costa of Sao Miguel, Azores . He lived in this area since 1979. Mr. Costa was formerly a self employed landscaper.

Mr. Costa’s Funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday evening from 6 - 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
