Joao Raposa

New Bedford MA-Joao Raposa died October 31, 2006 at home surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Virginia (Porto) Raposa of New Bedford. He was the father of John Raposa of New Bedford, Robert Raposa of North Dartmouth, and the late Natalie Medeiros. He was the grandfather of Derek, and Alexandria Medeiros, and Shane Raposa. Great-grandfather of Miya Rioux. He was the brother of Manuel, Maria, Fernanda and Suzaltina Raposa all of Sao Miguel, Azores. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Raposa was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal. He was the son of Manuel and Maria Rosa (Esprito Santo) Raposa. He lived in this area since 1958. He was formerly as a Crew Chief at American Sea Food,

Funeral will be Saturday November 4, 2006 at 8 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M.. Visiting hours are Friday November 3, 2006 from 5-9 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
